Can I bring my own food to Cocos Islands?

To ensure your comfort during the trip, it's a good idea to pack specific items based on your preferences and allergies. If you’re packing fresh food in your luggage make sure you have all your shopping receipts for customs. We find that some items such as tomatoes and eggplants will be checked for black spots so best not to bring them. Seafood is a no-go zone – we have plenty of that on the island. We recommend making this your priority luggage.

Is there Wifi?

Wifi can be purchased before through the form provided here or on island at the Community Resource Centre.

Will I need cash?

Although most places accept credit cards, we recommend bringing plenty of notes and coins for everyday spendings – like the ferry, which costs $5 return, and the bus, which costs 50c per trip.

What kind of documentation do I need to prepare before my trip?

None at the moment! We will be sure to update you if this changes.

What to pack?

Island life means delays can happen. If your checked luggage gets delayed, its a good idea to have your toiletries, medical essentials, bathers, and a spare set of clothing packed in your hand luggage for easy access.

For your regular luggage, we suggest including reef boots, snorkelling gear, and sun-smart clothing.

When visiting Home Island, we invite you to respect the community's dress standards by packing modest outfits that cover the shoulders and upper legs. Be prepared and make the most of your holiday!

Do I need travel insurance?

Safe, protected travel is the best kind. Bad weather, mechanical breakdowns, and health issues may dampen your journey. Good coverage will make sure they don’t sting so bad.
